A wonderful combination - factual information that will appeal to WWII enthusiasts
and human interest stories that will grab the attention of readers from all generations.
WWII was one of the most significant, influential events of our time. This unique
perspective is told from a personal level that reflects how it still impacts our lives today.

I met you at Brews Pub in Land O Lakes. I just finished reading your book. I loved it.
I felt the warmth from you throughout. How lucky for you that you came from such a warm and loving family. I hope your Mom is well. I loved Mels letters to his Dad. What a guy. Who knows how things will turnout in life.
I hope to see you again when you are up north. It was a pleasure meeting you and listening to your great stories. Patti K
A beautiful and soul-touching read. I recommend this book to everyone.
This new author is wonderful, I have to read it again...'L'
Your book is awesome. It brought me to tears a few times. What an incredible story. It
also brought back some memories--rationing during the war, etc. ...Mary VH
I stayed up late last night and finished the book. Awesome book. I love the ending; such a talent....C.L.
I thought I had my emotions in check to write this...I read books constantly and this is one of the
best books I have ever read....G.P.
I started reading your book today and the tears came. I love the pictures and your words have a way of
tugging at the heart causing the emotions to rise up within as you reveal the memories of the past.
Thank you for writing this treasure of a book....Dotty K
Finally had time to read your book last night and it was outstanding. You are a gifted writer. Well put together and the personal touches are what sets it apart from other books I have read. Wish I would have known Melvin, he was one hell of a man’s man. Also wish I had gotten to know my Dad more, but I cherish what few memories I have of him. Like you said in the book, no regrets and I wouldn’t change a thing because it makes us who we are...Jon T
I just want to tell you that I finished reading the book last night. I usually don't have much time to read, but I had a hard time putting it down. It was heartbreaking to hear how he survived the war and then died so tragically. There are a lot of things in life that we don't understand. It was nice to read about the close ties that he had with his dad. We need more of that - family is everything! I'm sure that you felt a lot of satisfaction after finishing writing the book. I for one appreciate your hard work. You did a great job. ...Della R
Took me a bit to read the book as I was in the middle of a series, and didn't want to interrupt it. Just finished, and what a beautiful read! I laughed and I cried. The letters made it such an involved read, so personal. Love the additional pictures on the website! What a spectacular gift to receive; your two dusty boxes. I have been at the airport when an honor flight returned. Such emotion, as much from the 'Welcome Back' committee, as the servicemen themselves. Looking forward to some more reading on WWII including the book you mention in your pages. Also your next one! Thanks for writing...D.L. :-)
